Heberling Associates, Inc., an Alexandria, Pennsylvania, cultural resource management firm, has won the prestigious 2006 Federal Highway Administration/Pennsylvania Division Transportation and Historic Preservation Excellence Award for its work on the U.S. Route 22 Lewistown Narrows project. The award was presented to Dr. Paul A. Raber, Director of Archaeological Services for Heberling Associates, Inc., PennDOT District 2-0, and the EADS Group, Inc. at the Seventh Annual Byways to the Past Conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on May 18. As a Pennsylvania Division winner, the Lewistown Narrows project will be nominated for a 2007 National Environmental Excellence Award recognizing the best environmental stewardship projects in the nation.

Heberling Associates, Inc., a full-service cultural resource management and heritage resource planning firm, was established in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, in 1983 by Paul M. Heberling. Heberling, a retired Juniata College anthropology professor, remains active with the firm.
